Shakur Stevenson is taking arguably the greatest risk of his career in his ambition to becomes a three-weight category champion. De Los Santos replaced original contender Frank Martin (18-0), who backed out of the fight during contract negotiations. Both the American and Dominican boxers will be looking to take the 135-pound belt vacated by Devin Haney, who will move up to 140 pounds.
De Los Santos’ only loss came in a split decision to William Foster III in January of 2022. While Shakur Stevenson is a substantial favorite with odds of -1300 and Edwin de los Santos is listed at +720, the Dominican is known for his power and only three of his fights have gone to the judges’ table.
