Max Verstappen has never made a secret of it: his favorite football club is PSV. Due to his busy schedule, the Red Bull Racing driver can only visit matches of the Eindhoven-based football club sporadically. But he always stays up to date, as was evident shortly before the US Grand Prix. Just before stepping into his F1 car, Verstappen celebrated PSV’s victory over Ajax.
It is no secret that Verstappen likes to watch football. Apparently, he is well-informed about international football, even down to Brazil. This was evident during a live stream of the International Motor Sports Association (ISMA) esports championship. Verstappen was asked about Brazilian football: “It’s actually quite exciting, the Brazilian league, at the moment. There are a lot of teams close behind. Botafogo were ahead by a mile, but in the last few games they are losing and drawing.”
Verstappen chooses Vasco da Gama
The Dutchman was then asked what his favourite team in Brazil is? “Then I will go for Vasco da Gama,” the three-time F1 champion said. A new love, then, instead of PSV in Eindhoven?
That will do, but no doubt his remark about Vasco da Gama will have gone down well with the in-laws. After all, the co-owner of this team is none other than Nelson Piquet, the father of his girlfriend Kelly.
