Max Verstappen responds to the crowd booing him in Miami “It’s absolutely fine as long as I’m standing on the top”

Max Verstappen’s victory in the Miami Grand Prix was not greeted only with applause as he was also booed by fans as he stood on the podium after the race; he had overtaken several drivers while battling from ninth on the grid. The Dutchman now has a 14-point lead in the drivers’ championship.

The Red Bull driver responded to the fans who booed him in Miami, he said he is “absolutely fine” as long as he keeps on harvesting wins.

The reigning world champion produced a peerless drive to recover from ninth on the grid, moving into second in 15 laps, managed his hard tires for 46 laps, and overtook teammate Sergio “Checo” Perez with nine laps to go.

The result extends his world championship lead over the Mexican to 14 points, but there were boos from some fans at the first U.S. race of the year when he took to the podium to receive his trophy.

Some pre-race complaints were also heard, but the Dutchman argued that it is “normal” for fans to dislike winning drivers as he delivered a defiant post-race message to his critics.

“If I was driving behind, nobody would react,” Verstappen said after the race.

“I think it’s normal when you’re winning and they don’t like who’s winning. It’s something that for me is absolutely fine, as long as I’m on top.” He elaborated

“For me, the most important thing is to take the trophy home and for them to go home and be able to … have a nice evening.” Mad Max concluded.

Verstappen was voted Driver of the Day by viewers after a performance that included an impressive overtake on both Charles Leclerc and Kevin Magnussen in the same maneuver before overtaking George Russell, Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, and ultimately Perez later in the race.
