Emma Raducanu seemingly enjoyed her life this past month as the British tennis star revealed her March activities by posting a photo dump on Instagram. In March, Raducanu had some success on the court as she made the round-of-16 at a WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells before losing to world No 1 Iga Swiatek.
Off the court, Raducanu ate nice food and also enjoyed some artwork.
Raducanu scheduled to start her clay season in Stuttgart
After a very positive Indian Wells run, Raducanu suffered a first-round exit at the Miami Open.
Following a Miami loss to Bianca Andreescu, Raducanu revealed that she was hampered by an ongoing wrist injury during the match. “It’s something I’ve been managing for some time. I just need to review after this tournament really and figure out what my next steps are.
We have been managing it, keeping on top of it. I’m able to play in the short-term. But the current solutions aren’t very viable long-term,” Raducanu said after her Miami exit. Between April 14-15, Great Britain is taking on France in the Billie Jean King qualifiers.
The tie will be played on hard and Raducanu won’t be there. On April 17, the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart is starting and that’s where Raducanu is scheduled to kick off her clay season. Explaining her decision to skip the Billie Jean King Cup, Raducanu said she was advised not to quickly change surfaces.
“Because of my existing injuries, the best medical advice was to not switch surfaces at such short notice. So that’s what I’ve been told. Of course I would love to play the Billie Jean King Cup. It’s just this scenario is not the best for my body.
I really need to look after myself and do what’s best for me on the match court,” Raducanu explained. Last year, Raducanu was beaten by Swiatek in the Stuttgart quarterfinal.
