Emma Raducanu has signed up to compete in Birmingham during this year’s grass season, the tournament announced. Raducanu, 20, is set to make her debut on the grass courts of Birmingham. Last year, Raducanu signed up to play in Birmingham leading up to Wimbledon.
Unfortunately for Raducanu, she suffered a side strain in her grass season opener in Nottingham. Because of the injury, Raducanu was forced to skip Birmingham. Now, Raducanu has again signed up to compete in Birmingham and this time she is certainly hoping to be healthy and fit when the time comes for the tournament.

“The British grass court season is always one my favorite times of the year and it was where I made my tour debut two summers ago. I’m really excited to be making my debut at the LTA’s Rothesay Classic in Birmingham this year and hearing the support from all the fans who come out to support us in an event that has so much prestige and history,” Raducanu said in a statement.
Just before Raducanu was confirmed for Birmingham, she clinched a big win in Indian Wells. On Monday, Raducanu defeated world No 13 Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-1 2-6 6-4 in the Indian Wells third round. Ranking-wise, that was Raducanu’s biggest victory since the 2021 US Open.
“Yeah, I think I played a really high level at some points of the match. I think that I played extremely well in the first set and in the third set, as well. There were some really good points and moments. I think overall the level increased in the third, and it was a battle from both of us.
Yeah, I’m pretty pleased with just being on the match court,” Raducanu said. After Indian Wells, Raducanu will also certainly be determined to have a positive campaign in Miami as well.
