Lebron James recently opened up about the difficulties he encountered during fatherhood after the birth of his oldest son, Bronny.
The basketball legend’s career was only just starting up when his son was born. In fact, Bronny was born just a few months after Lebron was selected as first pick in the 2003 NBA draft, which confirmed the huge move from St.Vincent-St.Mary high school to hometown NBA team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In the Beats advert, James explains that it was an uncertain and testing time in his life, given everything that was going on at the time. “I had no idea how I was going to be as a father. I’ll be honest-I was scared, But I kept trying”, he said. It’s worth noting that Lebron had virtually a non-existent relationship with his own father, with further fueled his uncertainty.
“I had no idea how I was going to be as a father. I’ll be honest-I was scared, but I kept trying”
But, like with many things, James grew into the role and learnt with time. “As you grew-so did I, Patience, commitment, joy – things I learned from basketball, but really, I understood from you”.
The end of the advert cuts to the present, with the pair performing their handshake ritual, wearing wireless Beats earphones.
Bronny looks to be an extremely promising young ‘baller’. The youngster, who is in his final year of high school, has attracted plenty of attention from colleges. Everything seems to indicate that he’s going to follow in his father’s footsteps to the NBA.
