Black Panther: Wakanda Forever brought Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to a thrilling conclusion, with the film’s events including the creation of a new Black Panther, hints toward the future of the franchise, and the introduction of Namor and the underwater kingdom of Talocan.
Tenoch Huerta’s new mutant has already been shown to be supremely powerful, capable of defeating many other superhumans in the MCU. However, Namor’s power is not only superior to other Marvel characters. In fact, there are many DCEU heroes that wouldn’t stand a chance against the king of Talocan.
Peacemaker
John Cena’s Christopher Smith, also known as the antihero Peacemaker, is surprisingly emerging as a leader of the DC cinematic universe following his appearance in The Suicide Squad and the hit HBO Max series Peacemaker. Though he has no superpowers of his own, Peacemaker is quite handy with weapons and possesses a love for killing, making him a dangerous foe to anyone who crosses him.
As dangerous as Peacemaker is, Namor the Sub-Mariner belongs to an entirely different playing field. The villain-turned-antihero wouldn’t stand a chance against the king of Talocan, though he would certainly respect Namor’s unyielding personality and propensity for killing his enemies with maximum prejudice.
Cyborg
Ray Fisher’s Victor Stone, a.k.a. Cyborg, has been absent from the DCEU ever since his appearance in Justice League (aside from a brief and faceless cameo in Peacemaker). However, in his short amount of time in the franchise thus far, Cyborg has proven himself to be quite powerful, possessing near-total control over any electronic device in his vicinity.
Though he is certainly powerful in his own right, Cyborg’s skill set is simply not equipped to deal with a threat like Namor. Not only could Namor potentially short-circuit Victor’s electronics (provided he has not been waterproofed), but the king of Talocan’s sheer strength and ferocity would make him a near-impossible opponent for Cyborg to defeat.
Hawkman
Hawkman makes his debut in Black Adam, where he is portrayed by Aldis Hodge. As one of the leading members of the Justice Society of America, Carter Hall uses his high-tech flight suit to preserve peace in the world, along with the help of an arsenal of advanced weaponry.
Though his action sequences in Black Adam show how fiercely Hawkman fights, the fact remains that he has very rarely been successful in his onscreen heroic endeavors so far. Until fans are shown more of Hawkman’s victories in battle, he will forever be outshone by Namor, who has had far more success in combat thus far.
Atom Smasher
Noah Centineo stars in Black Adam as the Atom Smasher, otherwise known as Albert Rothstein. He has the uncanny ability to alter his size at will, growing into a gigantic version of himself with increased strength, though this power forces him to constantly snack in between sessions in order to keep his blood sugar levels up.
Atom Smasher certainly has the potential to be one of the DCEU’s strongest heroes, but he is also young, overly ambitious, and inexperienced. Namor, who is centuries old and skilled in hand-to-hand combat, wouldn’t break a sweat in bringing down his giant opponent.
Martian Manhunter
The Martian Manhunter has made sporadic appearances in the DCEU, only ever revealing his alien form in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. This martian manhunter, who is also known as J’onn J’onnz, has increased speed, strength, and the ability to fly, though his most prominent power is his species’ propensity for shape-shifting.
Though the Martian Manhunter would undoubtedly be one of Namor’s toughest opponents from the DCEU, the king of Talocan would still be able to pull a victory over the alien shapeshifter. J’onn’s aversion to fire would make it difficult to exploit Namor’s one weakness, making it a fight of sheer strength, a battle that Namor would certainly win.
Harley Quinn
The DCEU’s version of Harley Quinn is decidedly more heroic than her comic book counterpart. Portrayed by Margot Robbie, Harley has become a fan-favorite character who, despite having no superpowers, manages to win almost every fight with her sheer brutality and delusions of grandeur.
Though Harley has often been able to achieve victory over even her deadliest opponents, she wouldn’t be so lucky if faced with the underwater king of the MCU. Even with the Birds of Prey at her side, the Clown Princess of Crime couldn’t beat Namor the Sub-Mariner, who possesses enough power to easily destroy any mortal foe he may face.
Bloodsport
The Suicide Squad introduces audiences to Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, a former criminal turned antihero by the Taskforce X program. Despite not having any physical superpowers, Bloodsport does have a vast arsenal of weapons that he can build, take apart, and reshape at will, making him a formidable opponent on the battlefield.
Bloodsport’s many guns and various other weapons would have little effect on Namor, who is impervious to most attacks. While his apparent technological inclinations could help Bloodsport fashion a device to drain the water from Namor’s surroundings, he would utterly fail in a battle with K’uk’ulkan in any other scenario.
Shazam
Teenager Billy Batson became the superhero known as Shazam when he was selected by a mysterious wizard to carry on an ancient legacy. With a lofty power set and an adult body capable of incredible feats, Shazam is one of the most powerful superheroes on the planet.
While other characters with similar power sets, like Black Adam, would likely emerge victorious against Namor, Shazam himself is not yet skilled enough with his powers to do so. His childish inclinations and goofy nature make him an unworthy opponent to best Namor, and he would undoubtedly fall unless he had the help of his companions.
The Flash
Barry Allen is the Flash of Earth-52, portrayed so far by Ezra Miller, though recent controversies have led fans to believe that the character will be recast in future films. Nevertheless, the Flash is the self-proclaimed fastest man alive, capable of running at the speed of light and, as his upcoming solo film suggests, he may even be able to turn back time itself.
While the Flash has beaten many mighty foes during his time as a superhero, the DCEU’s version of the character is far from the most powerful. Compared to the CW’s Flash and his comic book counterpart, Ezra Miller’s superhero isn’t nearly as powerful as he could be. As such, Namor would have little trouble besting the fastest man alive, though he might face a tougher opponent in his alternate-reality variants.
Aquaman
Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry, also known as Aquaman, is the king of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. As such, the tides and the sea creatures all obey his command, giving him an army in addition to his natural superpowers, which include enhanced strength and stamina, especially when immersed in water.
Though fans will likely debate over the superiority of Aquaman or Namor, the fact remains that the MCU’s Namor is more powerful than the DCEU’s Aquaman, at least currently. While Arthur Curry possesses an army, so too does Namor. Their inherent powers are also quite similar, meaning that their battle would likely come down to sheer battle experience, giving Namor the advantage given his unnaturally long lifespan and vast history in combat.
