Mike Tyson has been spotted in a wheelchair and walking with a cane in recent weeks, and speculation about his health status has immediately increased after he was spotted at the Miami Airport at the age of 56.
There were several witnesses who captured Tyson in the wheelchair, and Iron Mike himself gave a statement on his podcast to give his version of events.
“We’re all going to die someday, of course,” Tyson said. “Then, when I look in the mirror, I see those little dots on my face and I say ‘Wow, that means my expiration date is coming up pretty soon.”
What happened to Mike Tyson?
What is the condition from which the fighter suffers and which led to the images that went around the world? According to U.S. media reports, the legendary boxer suffers from a “sciatica flare-up” in his lower back, a problem that two years ago forced him to rest for weeks when he could not get out of bed.
This same problem afflicted him at the epilogue of his professional career and was one of the reasons that led him to hang up his gloves.
“He’s dealing with a sciatic (nerve) attack. Nothing serious. Just an occupational hazard for an athlete like him,” TMZ reported in recent days. However, the images drew attention because, just weeks before the video with the stick in New York, Iron Mike had shared images training intensely and fiercely, in anticipation of a new challenge.
Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul, is it possible?
“It could be very interesting. Everything is possible, yes, but it has to happen this year,” Tyson had warned in June. We will have to wait for the evolution of the boxer’s health to know if the exhibition against youtuber Jake Paul will be possible or will remain in the realm of utopias.
