The Shrimps have confirmed the news and announced that Fury’s ‘Gypsy King’ brand will feature on their home and away playing shorts for the upcoming campaign.

The club added that a further announcement regarding an extension to the partnership will be made ‘at a later date’.

Fury, 33, is originally from Manchester but has been based in Morecambe for much of his boxing career.

Fury said: ‘Big announcement – the Gypsy King has just sponsored my local club, Morecambe Football Club.

‘Let’s have a fantastic season and smash it. Come on the boys! And the girls!’

Fury beat Dillian Whyte in April to retain the WBC title. He announced afterwards he was retiring but has been persistently linked with a return to the ring.

Morecambe’s head of commercial Martin Thomas said: ‘Tyson is a fantastic ambassador for the Morecambe area and it’s fantastic to have him on board.

‘Tyson is one of the most recognizable names in the world of sport, and will bring worldwide recognition to the club.’

The 33-year-old moved to the seaside town permanently in 2011 and has been spotted out and about in the local community ever since.

In August 2020 the Gypsy King was spotted taking part in a wheelchair race with some friends at Morecambe Bay.

He later shared a video to his social media and captioned it: ‘One of the hardest workouts I’ve ever done. #pleasetry 7 miles in a wheelchair. It was mega hard.’

Prior to that, Fury threw an impromptu sparring session with his dad John in front of local fans at Morecambe Bay.

He treated a cheering crowd of lucky followers to a small glimpse of his training program on the beach.

He’s also been seen enjoy his local café – treating himself to some smashed avocado, smoked salmon and sourdough toast in Keegans coffee shop after defeating Wilder in February 2020.

Fury also led a march through his hometown – visiting different pubs which he claims are ‘racist’ and ‘banning’ members of the community.
